Kimberly

Piano, guitar

Kimberly Fisher's interest in music began at an early age. She began her study of piano in 1979.  Over the next 11 years, she developed excellent command of the piano. She also developed a profound interest in composition. In high school, Kimberly participated and excelled in WSMA Solo and Ensemble Music Festival and WSMA State Solo and Ensemble Music Festival for piano solos four different years. She worked in a professional capacity as a local church choir piano accompanist and began vocal training from a private teacher. She auditioned for and sang in Chamber Singers, the choral equivalent of a chamber ensemble, using voices instead of instruments, at her local high school.  She developed an interest during this time in playing the guitar and began teaching herself. She received an Associate of Art and Science degree from UW Baraboo in 1992. In 2001, she began studying the guitar in a more serious capacity. In 2004, she opened Music Café with guitarist, Dan Wood, and began teaching students of her own. Her musical development evolved when she became involved in a local contemporary music group with Wood. From 2007 to 2010, she studied percussion and drum set. Although her focus has been on classical music, she loves and has explored many styles, as well as improvisation. She has performed in various venues in the area, including weddings, receptions, funerals, events, for local churches and in other capacities. She has written several compositions. She enjoys sharing her music with others. Her structured, but flexible approach to teaching, enable her to teach a focused but individualized lesson. Currently, she teaches piano and guitar. Kimberly hopes to help others develop their love of music into a skill that will enable them to accomplish their musical goals and grow as a person.

Dan

Guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, violin

Loving music from an early age, Dan Wood began his study of the guitar at age 14.  He studied jazz and rock guitar with jazz guitarist, Roger Brotherhood. In 1983, he began studying classical guitar with Emmy award-winning guitarist/composer, Jaime Gusicafré, while still attending West High School in Madison, Wisconsin.  He continued his musical education at the Madison Area Technical College.  Over the next few years, Dan began performing in the Madison area in a variety of venues including recitals, in coffeehouses, for weddings and in rock ‘n’ roll bands. One of the main bands he played in was called Sabre. In 1995, after performing for nearly 20 years, he began teaching students of his own. In 1996, he produced and released a C.D. of his original compositions for five-finger classical guitar called Shining Cloud.  In 2004, he and accomplished pianist, Kimberly Fisher, opened a music studio in Sauk City called Music Café.  He continued to grow as a musician during this time by exploring other instruments, playing guitar and bass in a contemporary Christian music group with Fisher and performing in the local area.

Dan is a serious musician who enjoys all aspects of guitar, from teaching and performing to recording and producing. Currently, he is working to release a second C.D. of classical guitar works. He continues to teach guitar and bass, and now teaches other instruments, as well, including mandolin, banjo and beginner violin. He hopes to inspire future generations of guitarists and other musicians.
